AMANDA HICKEY earned her B.A. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Legal Studies from the University of Delaware. After college, Amanda attended the Maurice A. Deane School of Law, where she graduated from with her Juris Doctorate. During law school, Amanda was a member of the Family Court Review. Her note, “Federal Family Court: Providing Positive Possibilities” was published in July of 2020. In law school, Amanda was a member of the Clinical Prosecution Practicum, where she managed a caseload and appeared in court regularly. Amanda worked for the Nassau County District Attorney's Office from 2020 until she became associated with our firm in 2023. During her time as an Assistant District Attorney, Amanda prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony cases. As a prosecutor, Amanda gained substantial litigation experience conducting pre-trial hearings, oral arguments, grand jury prosecutions, and trials.
Since joining the firm, Amanda has focused on student and employee disciplinary matters. She has also appeared in court for state civil litigation matters and family court petitions, as well as served as co-counsel on a temporary restraining order in Federal Court. She has conducted investigations into bullying and harassment in violation of the Dignity for All Students Act and Title IX. Amanda advises clients on general education matters, such as student discipline, residency, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
